Contact a Car Accident Lawyer Early-There is a 2-Year Deadline to File a Lawsuit

When it comes to making a personal injury claim or filing a personal injury lawsuit, time may be of the essence. Generally, you have a two-year deadline for filing personal injury claims and lawsuits. Following your involvement in a car accident, any claim for personal injuries or damages must ordinarily be filed within two years of the date of your accident, absent some very rare exceptions — regardless of whether or not you are fully recovered. If your personal injury claim or a lawsuit is not filed within that time, you may be forever barred from seeking monetary compensation or filing suit for your injuries and damages.

The knowledgeable personal injury car accident lawyer at Flynn Law Firm can ensure that your claim or lawsuit is filed on time — and that all potentially responsible parties are named as defendants.

Personal Injury Protection Benefits

Personal Injury Protection (“PIP”) insurance is included on automobile policies. It provides payments for certain medical bills, household services, and funeral expenses.

Your own automobile insurance company will pay your PIP benefits. Each PIP policy must provide at least $15,000.00 of coverage per person injured in an accident, which can be used to pay medical expenses. You can choose to purchase a policy with higher limits, sometimes up to $100,000 per person.

No matter who is at fault for a wreck, PIP pays for your injuries.

PIP covers reasonable and necessary medical expenses related to your accident. This can include doctor bills, chiropractor bills, physical therapy, prescriptions, and even acupuncture. PIP must cover $15,000.00 of medical expenses within a year of the crash.

PIP covers lost wages.

PIP also covers 70% of any wages lost due to an injury in a car accident, up to a maximum of $3,000.00 per month. Benefits aren’t triggered until you have missed 14 consecutive days of work, and can last for 52 weeks. You will need a letter from a physician stating setting forth your disability and injuries; and you’ll need a note from your employer verifying your employment and your wage information.
